Listen manual
playlists.

Moods
rpm measures the energy, tempo and loudness of every track, and rates the tone of its lyrics. From those it builds five moods:
- Chill
- The quiet, still end of every kind of music you own. Take a moment to relax.
- Adrenaline
- The loud, busy end of every kind of music you own.
- Dancefloor
- Lots happening over a steady level: the records that keep a floor going.
- Focus
- A steady level with little happening over it: music to work through.
- Lights out
- Quiet, dark and without a swing in it: music to fall asleep to.
Chill, Adrenaline and Dancefloor are measured within each genre, so the calmest records of every kind you own are in Chill, not only the classical. A Classical list sits beside them, with whole works in order. Choose Generate a new list for a fresh one, and Save as playlist to keep it. On any artist or album in a list, choose Don't recommend this artist or Don't recommend this album; you can undo it later.
Decades and genres
The moods can be narrowed to a genre (Chill in jazz, Dancefloor in soul) or to a decade. The Decades folder holds a list for every decade in your collection: the songs from that decade the world plays most, ranked by ListenBrainz play counts, so it fills in over the first days. Every genre page has its own essential and mood playlists.
Playlists you can unlock
A list needs enough music to be worth playing: ten songs, or six when it is narrowed to one genre or decade. Until then, a card shows how many more songs it needs, or how many more you need to play. Playlists unlock as your collection grows and as you listen.
Your own playlists
- Show them as a list or as icons, and put them in folders, and folders in folders.
- Create, rename, delete, and drag to reorder.
- rpm warns you when a song is already in the playlist, and lets you add only the new ones.
- Each playlist shows its length and who is on it ("Featuring...").
- Choose Add to cloud to have a playlist on your iPhone and your other computers.
- Auto mix plays a playlist as a DJ set (supporters).
Covers
Every playlist gets a cover made from its records. Choose Change cover to:
- pick up to four records, in the order you pick them;
- use a picture of your own;
- pick one of eight mood designs, recolour it with New colours, and add an explicit content mark.
On the iPhone
The iPhone app shows the same playlists in a folder tree or a grid, with Chill, Adrenaline, Dancefloor, Focus, Lights out, Your mix, Favourite tracks, Classical and a Decades folder, each with Generate a new list. You can create playlists and add songs to them on the phone. See iPhone.
