These parts of rpm are under the GNU Lesser General Public License. Each links to the source of the exact version rpm ships.

ffmpeg, as rpm builds it

rpm's ffmpeg is FFmpeg 8.1.3 with LAME 3.100 and zlib 1.3.1, built by rpm under the LGPL 2.1 or later, with no GPL or nonfree parts. It is a separate program beside the app, and ffmpeg -version prints the configuration it was built with.

FFmpeg in the Android app

The Android app carries FFmpeg 8.1.3's libavcodec, libavutil and libswresample, built by rpm under the LGPL 2.1 or later with only the ALAC, AC-3 and E-AC-3 decoders and no GPL or nonfree parts. They are linked into libffmpegJNI.so together with Media3's FFmpeg decoder 1.11.1, which is under the Apache License 2.0.

fpcalc, as Chromaprint builds it

rpm ships Chromaprint's own published fpcalc 1.6.0 rather than building it, and that binary has FFmpeg 8.0 linked into it, which fpcalc -version prints. Chromaprint builds that FFmpeg with no GPL and no nonfree parts, so it is under the LGPL 2.1 or later like rpm's own. The scripts that control both halves of that build are published:

For at least three years after we last distribute a version of rpm, we will send anyone who asks the complete source code of the components above for that version, including the scripts used to build them, for no more than the cost of sending it. Write to support@rpmrpmrpm.com.

On the Mac and on Windows, rpm is compiled ahead of time into one program, so TagLib# is inside it rather than beside it. The same offer covers the build of that version that is not compiled ahead of time: rpm's own compiled .NET assemblies with TagLib# as a separate file, so the app can be run, or compiled again, with a modified TagLib#.

In the Android app, FFmpeg is linked statically into libffmpegJNI.so. Everything else in that library is published above as source, so it can be built again with a modified FFmpeg; the same offer covers that version's build files.

One photograph heads each genre, and one sits behind each generated playlist that has one. Those are under the Pexels License, which asks for no credit; they are listed anyway.
