sharing with friends.

Two computers running rpm can share their collections. They are paired on the same network with a code. After that, each can browse and play the other's music; the music the other keeps in the cloud also plays when you are on a different network.

What you need

  • rpm on both computers, each signed in to its own rpm account.
  • Both computers on the same network for pairing.

Pair two computers

  1. Open Share collections from the chip on the player. rpm lists the computers running rpm On this network.
  2. Choose Ask to share next to your friend's computer.
  3. Your friend sees that you want to share collections, and accepts.
  4. Their computer shows a six-digit code. Type it on yours and choose Connect.

From then on the two computers share collections with each other. A request expires after two minutes; your friend can decline, and you can ask again.

Play from a shared collection

Switch to your friend's collection from the same chip. You can browse their albums, their playlists and the lists rpm made for them, and play them as you play your own. Each shared collection shows its owner's name, picture and supporter badge. Switch back to My collection at any time.

Away from the network

When you are no longer on the same network, the albums and playlists your friend keeps in the cloud stay available, and keep playing from there. The rest comes back the next time you are together.

On the iPhone and in Pegasus

The iPhone app can switch to a collection shared with you, and plays its cloud tracks. Pegasus can switch collections from its menu. Sharing itself is set up on a computer.
